Ashay Prabhu
Ashay is passionate about capacity building in government finance.
Typically governments charged with managing billions in infrastructure face a complex challenge of balancing their budgets with community objectives - well being, liveability, climate adaptation and safety.
These complexities can be simplified - in understanding the inter-relationships; by the science of strategic asset management.
And using the power of deliberative engagement, we can significantly ease the pressure of balancing the budgets year after year..by building community trust.
As finance, engineering, planning and communities collaborate- our job as practitioners is to put our stories in-front of our politicians.
Stories that articulate how the community will live in the future based on a scenario they choose- on the basis of their appetite -for costs, climate, liveability, comfort, risk and well-being.
It’s their infrastructure after all…
Ashay spends a vast majority of time now globally providing master-classes and workshops on training:
1) shifting from depreciation driven budgets to service driven budgeting.
2) shifting from using past as the norm to future being a set of choices.
In the hope that younger practitioners embrace this art of SAM story telling, so future dots can join for our communities.
